About Ansley
Ansley is a Social Worker from Seattle, Washington who is passionate about working with children, teens, adults, couples and families in the areas of mental health, co-occurring disorders, and special needs. She received her Bachelor of Science in Special Education (Severe Disabilities) at Boston University and began her career working as a Special Education Teacher. Here she realized the need for more support for families with a neuro-diverse child(ren). She transitioned into working for the Army’s Exceptional Family Member Program providing supportive services and facilitating support groups for Soldiers’ families with special needs. Ansley received her Master of Social Work (MSW) from the University of New England and has an Associates Social Work License in the state of Washington. She recently worked as a social worker for the VA Puget Sound Hospital helping homeless Veterans with housing, referral, and assessment.
Ansley provides individual, couples and family counseling. She also facilitates support groups. Ansley uses a strengths-based approach, cultural humility, and a person-in- environment perspective when working with clients. She believes in the resiliency of people and helps to empower her clients by realizing their own strengths. The therapeutic relationship is paramount in Ansley’s work. She creates a strong rapport with clients through mutual respect, compassion, and empathy in order to grow together towards desired outcomes. She encourages a collaborative process with her clients while creating a safe space for sharing and reflection.
She has experience using Motivational Interviewing, Solution Focused Therapy, Crisis Intervention/Suicide Risk, Harm Reduction, Trauma Informed Care and incorporating elements of CBT in her practice.
Advocacy is also important in her work. She has experience working on interdisciplinary teams and committees advocating for the rights of her clients in schools, housing, and access to supportive services. Furthermore, she can help in the implementation/planning of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and Behavioral Intervention Plans (BIPs) in conjunction with schools/organizations.
