About me
Hello, I am Dr. Sophie and I would like to join you on your therapeutic journey. I believe that we no longer live in a society that fosters our mental wellbeing, and it’s important to recognize that we all need help at some point in our lives. Whether you’re preparing for future challenges, feeling that things aren’t quite right, or seeking an impartial professional to talk to, I’m here to provide guidance and direction.
I was born here in Munich, where I spent my childhood and completed my first degree. My love of the English language led me to study in the US and the UK, and to eventually get married interculturally. As such, I have first-hand experience in both the riches and the pitfalls of expat life, which might be the reason that brought you here today. I have lived through challenges such as home sickness, workplace stress and intercultural relationships and I can help you build skills to help you adjust, improve your communication and enhance your cultural competences.
With extensive experience in the field of disorganized eating, I understand the underlying struggles such as anxiety, perfectionism, and the challenges of transitioning into adulthood. I also recognize the importance of family dynamics, which is why offer not only individual therapy but also family and parent coaching. Additionally, I offer mental health counselling for SIBO, IMO, and IBS, which are often overlooked physical reasons for food-related difficulties that can lead to fear of food, anxiety and perpetual stress.
As a Counselling Psychologist, I focus on your unique experiences rather than fitting your difficulties into a category. Therefore, I do not diagnose nor use labels – unless this makes you feel safe. I am trained in a variety of therapeutic approaches, including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Humanistic & Person-Centered Therapy, Psychodynamic Approaches, and Systemic and Family Therapy. We will work collaboratively to identify which therapeutic tools and exercises fit best for you. I hold a Professional Doctorate in Counselling Psychology from the University of Wolverhampton, UK and I am recognized as a Chartered Counselling Psychologist by the British Psychological Society, as well as a Psychologin by the Berufsverband Deutscher Psychologinnen und Psychologen. I offer sessions in both English and German.
