Jennelle provides Couples Therapy according to the Gottman Method, a method based on research with over 3,000 couples over 40+ years. The research focuses on what elements makes relationships last or fail. This method is designed to give couples specific tools to deepen friendship and intimacy in the relationship. To help couples productively manage conflicts, Jennelle teaches methods of managing “resolvable problems” and dialoguing about perpetual issues. We work together as a team to build appreciation for the relationship’s strengths, to gently navigate through its vulnerabilities. Unique to the Gottman Method, is the positivity that the therapy brings out in the couples relationship: it’s about shared meaning making, not about pointing the finger.
Brenna draws on elements of Emotionally Focused Therapy in addition to the Gottman Method. She fosters a safe, open and constructive environment for couples to explore vulnerable emotions and collaborate on goals for the relationship. Brenna works with the couple to strengthen a sense of empathy and trust within the relationship. These foundations helps the couple to reconstruct the stable ground necessary to move forward towards achieving their goals. Being a client centered therapist, Brenna will specifically cater each therapeutic relationship to the specific needs and wants of the couple.
